Art and Soil
Matthew Dickerson (founder of Imagine Landscapes) has been working with plants since he was a child helping to develope the extensive family garden. He loved cultivating fruit trees, raising bees, and growing 17 foot tall tomatoes plants. While not in the garden or busy with schooling, Matthew would spend his time learning music. He's now a multi instrumentalist and national champion hammered dulcimer player. He regularly performs and teaches music at home and abroad.
At the age of 14 Matthew began working in the landscape industry putting his skills he learned as a child to work. Over the past 18 years he has experienced running landscape crews, private gardening, project management, business development, and sales in the green industry.
Matthew has woven his skills in the arts and landscaping to create visual concepts and designs. His many years of experience combined with his passion for creativity produces a symphony of proven results that blossom into landscapes that are not only functional, but also beautiful.

At the age of 14 Matthew began working in the landscape industry in maintenance.
Landscape Contractor Team Leader
August 2009 - May 2015
Ran a team for both landscape maintenance and enhancements. This included turf and landscape maintenance, landscape plant install, and hardscapes.
Private Gardener
January 2016 - September 2018
After moving to South Carolina, Matthew worked part time as a private gardener maintaining potted plants, a greenhouse, formal gardens, irrigation, and creating enhancements. When not getting his hands dirty, he would be teaching and performing music.
Project Manager
April 2020 - December 2022
Covid brought Matthew back to Ohio to continue in the landscape industry as the project manager for J&L Lawn & Landscape. He managed 8 teams for both landscape maintenance and enhancements.
Sales
January 2023 - September 2023
Matthew developed sales at J&L Lawn & Landscape raising profitability by 10%. He would daily meet with clients solving problems and creating proposals and contracts.
Business Development
April 2020 - Current
During this time Matthew onboarded the landscape company to a digital platform, created system processes, automations, and website development. Using these systems over a 2 year span, Matthew was able to raise the company's annual sales from $750K to 1.7 million. Matthew currently still works as an independent development consultant and contractor for businesses in the green industry.
Designer
April 2020 - Current
Matthew has been designing landscapes since 2020. He launched his company, Imagine Landscapes, in February of 2023. He contracts with installers across the country as well as manages the install projects for his clients.
