Matthew Dickerson, founder of Imagine Landscapes Design, has been working with plants since he was a child—helping develop his family's extensive garden, cultivating fruit trees, raising bees, and growing 17-foot-tall tomato plants.
When he wasn't in the garden or busy with school, he was learning music. Today he's a multi-instrumentalist and national champion hammered dulcimer player who performs and teaches at home and abroad.
At 14, he started working in the landscape industry, putting what he learned as a child to work. Since then he has run landscape crews, worked as a private gardener, managed projects, built a sales program, and helped grow landscape businesses.
Imagine Landscapes Design weaves those two worlds together: an artist's eye for composition and a landscaper's understanding of what it takes to sell, source, and build a project. The result is landscapes that are as functional as they are beautiful.

Designer & founder
Designing landscapes since 2020 and launched Imagine Landscapes Design in February 2023. Works with installers across the country and manages install projects for his clients.

Sales
Built the sales program for a regional landscape company, raising profitability by 10%, meeting with clients daily to solve problems and write proposals and contracts.

Project manager
Managed eight teams for landscape maintenance and enhancements at a full-service landscape company.
- 2016 – 2018
Private gardener
Maintained potted plants, a greenhouse, formal gardens, and irrigation, and created garden enhancements in South Carolina.

Crew member to team leader
Started in landscape maintenance at 14, then led teams handling turf and landscape maintenance, plant installation, and hardscapes.
